Africa's second female president, Dr. Joyce Banda, was a guest at the
Africa House in Gallatin Feb. 28 for a fundraising event for African
women, children, the disabled and other marginalized groups.
Banda, who is the former president of the Republic of Malawi and voted Africa's most powerful woman by Forbes magazine, was the featured keynote speaker for the fundraising dinner and silent auction organized to raise money for the Joyce Banda Foundation. The foundation's mission is to offer solutions and initiatives in the area of empowerment of Malawi women, primary and secondary education, orphan centers, youth sports and village transformation.
Other speakers included Africa House owner Dr. Arikana Chihombori and the Rev. Samuel Orr.
